Meet in the park blocks in front of Smith Center Student Union and march to the Hawthorne Bridge
To honor the resilience of millions of women survivors of war around the world, Women for Women International is hosting a global campaign called "Join Me on the Bridge" on International Women's Day. We will bring women from Rwanda and Congo together in peace on a bridge between their countries to demand an end to war and to demonstrate that women can build the bridges to peace and development. At the same time and in solidarity, we will bring women (and men!) together on bridges throughout the world, creating a truly global movement that says NO! to war and YES! to peace and hope. At the Portland International Women's Day Event participants can sign and write messages on the peace and hope banner at the Run for Congo Women table throughout day. At 4pm, we will meet outside the Smith Center and start our walk to the Hawthorne Bridge at 4:15. From 4:30-5pm, we will stand on the south side sidewalk with our banners and fliers. At 5pm, we will walk back to PSU. Join us after PIWD for this important display of peace and solidarity with our Rwandan and Congolese sisters.
